It is due to the attention given by the Muslims, including the authorities in Brunei Darussalam, to the halal haram issue of animal and meat that the State Mufti's Office has made the effort to publish this collection of fatawa, solely as a legal guide on matters or activities associated with animal and meat.

70 fatawa were issued on the subject between 1962 to 1999 covering various problems of animal slaughter and meat handling, meat trading and matters on foodstuff containing animal products.
